The institute organised a two day workshop “BUILD YOUR OWN COMPUTER” on 11th and 12th December 2009. The aim of this workshop was to make students comfortable with Linux operating system installed on the institute computers and also to introduce them to the process of assembling computers.
The organizing committee consisted Dr. Arvind, Mr. Paramdeep Singh, Dr. Kapil Hari Pranjape and Dr. Rajeev Kapri. The 25 participants selected for the workshop included students of BS-MS program and research scholars.
The workshop was inaugurated by Professor Ramesh Kapoor, then Dean Academics. It was followed by a lecture on ‘Hardwares and Softwares’ and three lab sessions conducted over a period of two days. The participants got ample time in laboratory to execute what was taught during the lectures.
The workshop helped the participants get familiarized with Linux operating system, its operations, applications and benefits. Participants also got a hands on experience of assembling computers. Students were also introduced to various softwares and hardwares. It was a great learning experience for all those who attended the workshop.
